SCHOOL BOARD

REElect Jarvis Bailey

Why I'm Seeking Re-election to the FXBG School Board

Hi, and welcome to my re-election campaign website. I'm Jarvis Bailey, and I'm excited to share with you why I'm running for re-election to the Fredericksburg City School Board. As an educator, advocate, and community servant, I believe in the power of education and its role in shaping the future of our community. Here are three key reasons why I'm seeking your support for another term on the School Board:

1. I Am a Champion for Students - All Students. No Exceptions!

Education is not just my profession; it's my passion. Born into a family of educators, I have dedicated my life to helping students succeed. Currently serving as a high school Career and Technical Education Teacher, I witness the transformative power of education every day. I firmly believe that every student deserves an equal opportunity to excel, and I am committed to ensuring that no student is left behind. I am a champion for students, and I mean all students, without exception.

My extensive career in education, ranging from being a Behavior/Intervention Specialist to serving as an Assistant Principal and School Board Member, underscores my dedication to students at all levels. As a School Board Member, I have consistently placed student achievement at the forefront of my priorities. Whether in the classroom or the boardroom, my focus remains on creating a positive learning environment that fosters success for every student.

2. It Is My Reasonable Service

I firmly believe in the importance of public service and community involvement. I have served my country as an Army Chaplain, and I actively participate on various non-profit boards in Fredericksburg and beyond. Public service, in all its forms, plays a vital role in building strong, thriving communities. For me, serving on the School Board is not just a duty; it's a calling—a way to contribute to the betterment of our community by shaping the future of our youth.

Being a School Board Member allows me to combine my love for education with my commitment to citizenship. It's a privilege to utilize my practical experience to inform policy-making decisions, ensuring that our schools continue to excel. Serving on the School Board is not just my reasonable service; it's a way for me to express gratitude and go from being a good citizen to a great one.

3. I Want to Finish What I Started

My connection to education in Fredericksburg dates back to 1995 when I enrolled my oldest son in Fredericksburg City Public Schools. Since then, all three of my children have completed their K-12 education within the city schools. My journey as a School Board Member began in 2007 when I was appointed and then elected in 2008. During my tenure, I've witnessed the ups and downs of our school system.

We've made remarkable strides, with historic achievements like hiring our first African-American female superintendent and the construction of the much-needed Walker-Grant Middle School. Our students' success indicators, including SOL scores, have surpassed expectations, with 82% of our division-wide accreditation data points showing growth.

Furthermore, we've made substantial progress in bridging the digital divide by providing computing devices to all students and offering internet access to families in need. Building the new Walker-Grant Middle School was a testament to the incredible partnerships between the public, private, and community sectors.

I want to continue this journey and finish what I started by being a driving force behind our ongoing improvement and the next era of school greatness.

Remember, early voting has already begun, and the election day is November 7, 2023. Please make a plan to vote and support Jarvis Bailey for School Board. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students and the future of Fredericksburg City Public Schools. Thank you for your support!
